Water Development and Sanitation Minister MIKE MPOSHA says there is a need to  mobilize more resources to address water and sanitation challenges on the Copperbelt.

Mr.  MPOSHA says  Water coverage on the Copperbelt stands at over 85 percent while sanitation services are above 72 percent.

He said this when he visited Mulonga Water and Sanitation Company offices.

The Minister is in the province to check on the progress on the ongoing Zambia Water and Sanitation Project.

Mr. MPOSHA further expressed happiness with the progress that has been made in the implementation of the Zambia water and sanitation project by the utility.

Earlier, Mulonga Water and Sanitation Company Managing Director NDILAKULAPA HAMALAMBO disclosed that the 65 percent of works have been done under the ongoing Zambia Water and Sanitation Project by the utility.

He said once completed the project will improve water supply to  Chingola, Chililabombwe and Mufulira communities.

And Chililabombwe District Commissioner PRECIOUS NJEKWA has called for speedy execution of the project because pressure is mounting over the resource in the district.
