call-for-africa-to-overhaul-its-food-systems-to-combat-pressing-challenges-that-the-continent-is-facing
Secretary to Cabinet Patrick Kangwa has underscored the urgent need for Africa to overhaul its food systems to combat the pressing challenges that the continent is currently facing.
Mr. Kangwa has acknowledged that while the authorities have taken some measures to tackle this issue, more comprehensive and transformative efforts are required to combat the alarming levels of food insecurity and malnutrition.
He has also stressed the importance of aligning food security efforts with the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme -CAADP- which is a framework adopted by African Union member states, with the aim of achieving sustainable agricultural development and food security across the continent.
Mr. Kangwa said this in a speech read for him by Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Vice President Lillian Kapusana during the opening of the 14th Africa Day for Food and Nutrition Security -ADFNS- Programme and CAADP partnership platform.
The 14th ADFNS and CAADP partnership platform event offers a unique opportunity for stakeholders to join hands, share knowledge, and commit to concrete actions to address food and nutrition security in Africa.
