A two-year-old boy has been burnt to death in Lumezi District, Eastern Province.
The boy met his fate in a bush fire as he followed his siblings who had gone out to hunting for mice, a delicacy for people in Eastern Province .
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Limpo Liywalii says the boy died on Tuesday August 8 2023.
Mr Liywalii said when police visited the scene of the accident, they found that the body had already been removed and taken home.
He says briefs of the matter were that on the material day around 10:00 hours, the deceased siblings went to look for mice while the deceased was at home with his mother.
The deceaseds siblings set the field on fire without knowing that the their young brother was following them.
Mr Liywalii says their mother heard cries coming from the burning Bush and later discovered that her son was on fire.
He says the mother managed to put out the fire but the boy died on the way to the hospital.
