BUSEKO MARKET RE-PLANNING SPARKS UPROAR

By Memory Nyambe

Calls to re-plan Lusaka’s Buseko market have sparked outrage among traders at the trading post.

Some unhappy people at the site have told Diamond News that the proposed plans are likely to displace some marketeers hence the said progress threatens their source of income.

The traders were reacting to Lusaka City Council’s proposal to have the market re planned in order to restore sanity at the famous market known for vast timber sales.

Over the years, Buseko Timber Traders have complained of inadequate space hence opting to pile merchandise along the island of Lumumba road but again the said people are seemingly against a solution to the prolonged problem.
