Former LUSAKA Province Minister BOWMAN LUSAMBO has pleaded not guilty to two new counts of possession of property deemed to be proceeds of crime.
Mr. LUSAMBO has taken plea today before LUSAKA Chief Resident Magistrate DAVIES CHIBWILI.
In the new indictment, Mr. LUSAMBO in the first count allegedly possessed property comprising a single storey four bedroomed house, guest wing, gazebo and a car shed, between May 01, 2015 and December 31,2021, deemed to be proceed of crime.
In the second count,Mr. LUSAMBO on unknown dates but between May 01, 2015 and December 31,2021 jointly with others unknown persons , possessed six flats in LUSAKA’s Chamba Valley, reasonably deemed to be proceed of crime.
Meanwhile Chief Resident Magistrate has dismissed an application by Mr. LUSAMBO to refer his proceed of crime case to the Constitutional Court for determination of Constitutional issues.
Mr. LUSAMBO had contended that his right to fair was being adversely affected as the prosecution of new counts of his case has been assigned to another court.
