Secretary to the Treasury FELIX NKULUKUSA has urged auditors to address loopholes and shortcomings in the financial management systems to avoid wastage of public funds.

Mr. NKULUKUSA says addressing the loopholes will help inform policy makers and make cost efficient decisions.

In a speech read on his behalf by Accountant General SANDI MANZA at the Regional Workshop on Assessing Information System Controls in Financial Auditing in Lusaka, Mr. NKULUKUSA said Zambia is using several systems to protect public funds.

And Acting Auditor General RON MWAMBWA said Zambia is promoting the use of Information and Communication Technologies -ICTs- to protect public funds.

Dr. MWAMBWA said ICTs have the potential to reduce revenue leakages, increase tax collection and compliance to tax laws.

Six countries from the region are attending the workshop which has been organised by the African Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions -AFROSAI.
