Zambia has recorded four deaths from Anthrax.
This is out of the 335 cumulative cases recorded in the country.
Health Minister SYLVIA MASEBO has disclosed that a 12-year-old boy died this morning as part of the three cases that were reported from Muchinga province.
Lusaka, Muchinga and Northwestern are the latest provinces to record Anthrax cases.
Ms. MASEBO said at a media briefing in Lusaka today that 13 cases have been reported from Kanyama, Matero, Chelstone and Chilenje in Lusaka.
She said Southern Province has recorded the highest number of cases at 2 hundred and 69 in Sinazongwe, Kazungula, Livingstone, Monze, Choma and Kalomo while Eastern Province has recorded 30 cases, with Western recording 19.
She said a vaccine has been approved for use by adults and can be given to those that may be at risk of being in contact with animals or animal products.
The Minister has since advised all citizens to avoid meat products until the outbreak is controlled.
Meanwhile, Zambia National Public Health Institute Director General ROMA CHILENGI said the disease can be passed on from one person to another through close contact of bruised skin.
