A Senior Court Clerk SIMUTAMBO SAKALA has confirmed that former Presidential Press Aide AMOS CHANDA’s case record was lost from LUSAKA Magistrate Court’s Registry between May 2020 and October 2022.
Ms. SAKALA has testified that Mr. CHANDA’s file together with the one for former Executive Director of Road Transport Agency-RTSA-ZINDABA SOKO have been lost and not traced.
Ms. SAKALA was testifying before LUSAKA Resident Magistrate IRENE WISHIMANGA in a matter where Mr. CHANDA is charged with two counts of theft and destroying court evidence.
It is alleged that Mr. CHANDA, between May 12, 2020, and October 1, 2022, acting together with others unknown, stole a case record, the property of the Republic of Zambia.
The case record in question pertains to the matter where Mr. CHANDA was charged with corruption jointly with Lusaka businessman, WALID EL NAHAS and former Road Transport and Safety Agency Chief Executive Officer ZINDABA SOKO.
This was before the Director of Public Prosecutions -DPP- entered a Nolle Prosequi in the matter.
