About 4,000 runners are set to participate in this year’s ABSA Marathon slated for Saturday August 26th.
Both local and international runners are set to participate in the marathon that has seen an injection of 5-million kwacha in preparations.
ABSA Bank Managing Director MZINGA MELU has attributed the increase in the money for organizing the event to the bank’s commitment to elevate fitness in Zambia.
Addressing the media in Lusaka today, MZINGA also announced an increase in prize money for each category with the top being 45,000 Kwacha in the 42 kilometer category.
Meanwhile, Zambia Athletics-ZA- President ELIAS MPONDELA, in a speech read on his behalf by Lieutenant Colonel-GODWIN CHENDA, said the association will provide technical support and ensure international rules and guidelines are followed.
