Increased enrolment of learners with special needs in government schools following the implementation of free education policy has led to the establishment of 13 special unit schools in Kitwe.
Kitwe District Education Board Secretary CHRISTOPHER NYUNGILA says the free education policy has enhanced access to education among learners with special needs.
Mr. NYUNGILA said this when he and Ministry of Information Media Director HENRY KAPATA toured Lukasu Primary school in Kitwe.
Earlier, Mr. KAPATA said Government is inclusive hence the creation of special units in schools.
And a special unit teacher NAMAKAU LIWENA said the school has 410 learners with special needs.
Ms. LIWENA said the high number of special learners at the school requires more special education teachers.
