Over One thousand four hundred couples have so far been reunited following President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s directive that couples working within Government should not be separated through transfers.
Acting Secretary to the Cabinet OLIVER KALABO says this is against the 5,672 applications from employees in the Public Service, Judiciary and Local Government Service.
Dr. KALABO says the Service Commissions have continued to work on the remaining 4,245 applications to ensure that the process is concluded.
He however, says a number of challenges have been encountered in the processing of the transfer requests as most applicants prefer to be transferred to urban areas where most structures are filled up.
Speaking during a press briefing in Lusaka today, Dr. KALABO said the reuniting of married couples is an ongoing process and that couples should be patient.
Dr. KALABO also disclosed that Smart Zambia is in the process of digitizing Human Resource systems to make it easier for the Commissions to have access to the data base for all civil servants.
And responding to a question, Local Government Service Commission Chairperson ACKSON SEJANI said the Commission desires to roll out the qualification audit in all the local authorities but is limited with resources.
He said following the outcome from the qualification audit at the Lusaka City Council it is imperative that the exercise is rolled out to other Councils.
